advice on damage to a friend's car

My coworker brought this to my attention. She suspects another coworker door dinged the side of her car. Even though looking at, aside from their being no dent, the texture felt very sticky almost to the point where we don't really know the extent of the damage until whatever glue like substance is removed. Not just myself, but it seems more like someone sat the head of a lit cigarette on that spot. That just being one guess but more plausible to me.


She went to other bodyshops to get an estimate. Ofcourse all said repaint with pinstripe reapplied and lowest estimate $500.

With her not willing to make that investment any ideas from the forum to dress up this problem? And any ideas of what that could be?

Try a Mr. Clean eraser ......... the pinstripe will have to be replaced but, I'll bet the eraser removes the discoloration.

You'd be very surprised at its capabilities.
By the way, Home Depot will sell 'em to you.
