Just like the title says. What offers the fastest best cut? Assuming 105,FG400, HD cut are on hand.
Thanks

On what tool/pad? Have you tried the other 2 compounds?

I tried Megs 105 and it dusts more than FG400. FG400 cuts better IMO. I used an Lake Country Orange Hybrid Pad with my Flex 3401 and PC7424XP

As for HD I have never used it so I can't comment. I have never used a wool pad so I can't comment either. The Hybrid Pads work best for the Flex 3401 and the thinner the pad or (wool pad I am assuming) does not work as good with the Flex 3401. So I will be sticking with the Foam Pads from Lake Country.

Rotary + wool is king of cut. But to answer the question, I must pose a question. Does this assume a second step regardless?

If yes, then I say flex + wool. Leaves more of its own defects to correct but cuts like crazy.

If no, then PC + MF. Leaves only a haze in most cases and may be considered good enough on lighter, hard paints for a one-step.

I have no problem using a pilish after getting all of the deep defects out

The PC + Rupes microfiber + M105 is quite potent. I believe the rotary + wool + megs 04 Heavy Cut was "faster" though. Haven't used the modern compounds on a rotary yet.

I got a really nice finish with the PC though.

IMO:
A wool pad does not work with a DA.

On the other hand:
Something like a "purple foamed-wool pad"
will work with a DA.

So will microfiber pads.

forum member richy uses a wool pad with his flex 3401 (note his extreme concentration while polishing while with a cigar in his mouth :D ), check out some of his write-ups...

The Blue hybrids with FG400 on the Flex 3401 will absolutely devour swirls....

Check out the before/after on the trunk lid of the VW I did about 2 weeks back.

IME it will cut much more than a PC style DA and MF pads.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have both machines, I just wanted to know if it would be worth it to get microfiber pads for the PC, or load up on wools for the Flex. I will be going with wool pads for the Flex. For the most part Hydo tech pads work very well on my Flex on most paint. The problem for me,is time spent on harder clear coats.

Rotary & wool should be the obvious answer.

No offense meant to OP.
