Hey guys,

So I have read a lot about QDs, spray waxes, waterless washes, rinseless washes, etc.

I am planning on applying Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion followed by Collinite 845 on my new truck in a few weeks. In order to maintain the wax should I use a QD or spray wax or just leave it alone.

My thinking is that the more I leave the paint alone the less likely I am to induce swirls or scratches in the paint. Is this type of thinking wrong?

For a Collinite #845 "maintenance plan"...I'd use either:
Meguiars D156; or: Meguiars D155

QD or Spray wax either one is fine.

I've used sprays in the past as a booster, but now I simply use them as a drying aid to help the waffle weave towel glide over the paint better.

On my 845 protected car I've used D156 (a.k.a. Ultimate Quik Wax) and the Pinnacle Waterless Wash. I found the D156 to work much better and it leaves a much better shine. It's a great combo.

:iagree: The "synergy" between D156 & Colli is awesome. I'd also add Poorboy's Spray & Wipe (QD) for consideration.

It's not wrong; the less you wipe, the better. But the other side of the coin is, how dirty will you let your vehicle get before you can't stand it anymore? You have to wipe every time you wash. My car is coated now, but when I was using Meguiar's Ultimate Wax, I occasionally used UQW as a booster.

The exception to touching is bird droppings; you need to remove those as soon as possible. I keep a bottle of D155 in the car for the bird strikes.

I currently have 845 on the xterra. I use PB SPRAY & GLOSS as a drying aid. If i want to amp up the protection ( only used once since the 845) i use PRIMA WAX AS U DRY. Both play very well with 845. I am more than satisfied with the results!

Yep, like the others have said. A QD is great way to spruce up your wax. You may be happy with the results with the wax alone. One thing I make sure of when applying a QD after drying or as a drying aid, is always inspect the towels. I tend to use the fluffiest, best towels I have. I inspect them right out of the dryer and before using. I usually use a waffle weave to blot dry my baby then use a QD with a Primo to finish the job. Good luck & take care.

Peace,

Darrin

Isn't it better to wipe off light dust, etc with D155 and use the D156 on a perfectly clean vehicle?

I use D115 for light dust wipe downs, bird crap, spot cleaning etc and D156 after every regular wash.

I will pick up some D155 and D156 then!
