View Full Version : 2011 Honda Pilot test subject

Got this Pilot used last year with high mileage and of course, lots of swirls. Not much as far as supplies go since I mainly do headlight restorations. This is my wife's daily and although it's garaged for all but a few hours a day, she's not very OCD like me. It's seen many swirl-matic washes since we've had it but figured I'd at least do a quick 1-stage to get it looking decent. I do wish I had taken a few more before pics. Total time: about 12 hours and without doing the roof, headlights, exhaust tips or interior (please keep in mind this is my first paint correction on a black mid-size SUV). I did manage to let my 3 and 7 year old girls run the polisher a few times. Overall, I'm pretty happy and learned a few things along the way. Anyway, here's my recipe:

Meg's Gold Class with Gold Plush wash mitt/Guzzler
Meg's Clay
Meg's All Wheel/Tire cleaner with Daytona brush
CG Citrus APC
303
GG polisher
WG Finishing glaze
DP Poli-Seal
Collinite 845

Well done, what pad(s) did you use with your polishes?

I have a 2010 Pilot, and I just keep having issues with hazing when using a polish on this vehicle. It's so finicky.

(And what dressing did you put on your tires; are they the OEM Goodyear Fortera tires?)

Thanks! I used WG Finishing Glaze and on orange pads. It's my first paint correction and I'm honestly surprised by what came out with such a conservative combo.

I just used some 303 on the tires. I love the satin finish it leaves (I did 2 coats). With such a large sidewall to cover, the spray bottle makes it super fast to apply. 6-7 pumps and you're done.

Yes, they are the Dueler Alenza Plus series. Great reviews on them so I pulled the trigger on a set a couple of months ago.
