Can you share some of your color coded microfiber towels and which color is used for what. Trying to figure out a good color system.

Does it really matter? If you are buying the same towel except in different colors, just pick one for each task.

I use yellow for interiors, both cleaning and dressing--is that bad?

It is your color coding system. What works for you. You designate a specific color for what it's used for. Makes it easier to wash. No cross contamination, etc.

Those that get dropped are for wheel and engine use, etc. Used a perm. black marked to designate, no mix ups.

Exactly. I also keep them in separate, marked bins.

I don't ever use MF towels on tires...I have a very ample supply of old and used cotton bath towels/wash cloths that I use for the 'wiping of tires'. :)

I don't really have color coded system, except there are tire only towels. I only have around 50 towels, so I launder what I use and inspect them CLOSELY after a low dryer setting. I am relatively new to detailing, I suppose I'll come up with a system when I figure which MFT I find is best for each application. Good luck & take care.

I sort them into bins based on GSM/purpose. I also keep the towels that I use in the bottom of the panels (for rinseless and waterless wash) separated.

CG "El Gordo" Fatty Limes: Specialty applications (coating)
MFT blue Elite Ultra Plush MF's: Waterless/Rinseless washes 500gsm

They are grouped in different bins--I've committed their uses to memory--in part thanks to when/why I bought them.

This is a fair question and I know you're serious but I'm laughing reading this because some of the folks on this forum are uber obsessive. The answers should be entertaining and instructive. I have always gotten my microfiber from AutoGeek. My non-obsessive answer is:
Guzzler Waffle weave drying
Thick, light blue 70/30 for presoaking in ONR
Thicker orange for interior (didn't see them listed on website)
Blue all purpose for plastics and rubber
Black for rims and tires
Green for carpet & upholstery
Lavender (similar to the Supreme 530, not on website) for polishes, and removing polish from pads
Supreme 530 for wax & sealants
Old and very dirty of any color- engine cleaning

You call that non-obsessive? Lol

Wow! I need to buy more towels now. I'm so not experienced in my color selection.

I go by what I bought this year, followed by last year's purchase and then the previous and so on. Newest ones used for best jobs, old for rims, exhaust tips etc

Same for wash mitts
