What soap for my dirty truck?..PICS

Hi,
This is my first post, and the reason I converted from Lurker to member is because I could not find foam gun or foam cannon vids with really dirty vehicles, almost all vids have a somewhat clean vehicle to start with, or clean according to what my DD usually looks like. My truck sees dirt roads year round and salt cover roads in the winter, and when the spring thaw starts the dirt roads turn to a real mess. I will be purchasing either a foam gun or a foam cannon, I have not decided on which one as of yet. What I need is soap recommendations for my truck, I am looking for a soap that will carry the dirt, sand, salt and grime from my paint. I plan on foaming as a start and then rinsing the foam and loosened dirt away before I wash. I usually have to wash my truck every 2-3 days during the sloppy muddy snowy weather.

Really quick...do you want something with polymers to leave a sealant/wax behind, or would you like straight soap, obviously lubes and glazes would be ok to prevent marring, but, would you like to avoid putting some polymers on there that would stay behind when you dry?

For heavy dirt and muck like that I recommend Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and CLEAR. Gentle enough to avoid stripping wax if used in right dilutions but strong enough to melt off grime. Isn't the most sudsy soap for use in the gun / cannon but a good soap. Especially since your maintenance washes aren't just for light dust / dirt.

Second recommendation: you honestly can't go wrong on the price with Megs Gold Class.

IMO you want to pressure wash that bad stuff off before you wash. It will be the kinetic action of the water that carries away the gross dirt before you do your contact wash, there are plenty of excellent soaps.

Nice truck! Like others have said, first and foremost you want to use high pressure water to blast the majority of the dirt and grime off the paint before you start washing it. If you don't have a pressure washer, simply head over to the local coin-operated DIY car wash and use their high pressure water to rinse it off.

With a truck that big, you might want to consider picking up a FOAM GUN. It will make washing MUCH easier (and fun!).

Foam Gun - it's a foam party!

You can adjust the amount of suds with the metering slide bar. Looking at the metering bar from the top you'll see 6 equal sized holes. These are "stops" that lock the metering bar into position with the use of a spring loaded check ball inside the mixing chamber.

You can twist the metering bar sideways to push it in or out of the mixing chamber when choosing a solution level and then twist it back to the upright position to lock it into place.

I always use the largest hole so the most foam is created.

It's just salt and mud. Just pressure wash it off and then it will be clean enough that any car shampoo will work well. You really don't need some super duper dirt fighting shampoo, you just need a pressure washer.

After using Megs Soft Gel, Maxi Suds II, Optimum Car Wash and having liked all I know prefer Megs Gold Class over all. Cleans as good as others but the shine it leaves behind is better.

I think something that may be over looked. What LSP are you using? I am still a big fan of carnuba wax look but possibly a strong sealant or coating would be better suited for your situation. With a good coating applied properly any soap or shampoo will be fine

Hey, sorry it took so long to get back to you...home life with three kids under 4 is crazier than work. I know that Nick recommended DP's product and he knows waaaay more than I do, but in your situation I highly recommend this...Ultima PG Wash...The price is high, but this stuff is fantastic. Notice that it is not advertised as foam cannon shampoo but it will work with a little more concentration. I will probably get throttled for it on here, but that's what I would go with. The Ultima will leave some polymers behind...but it's an awesome shine and won't harm your carnauba. Great slickness for protection. Might be worth hitting a coin-op before foaming though.
