Newbie with some ??

Hi, i have done bunch of reading here and pulled the trigger. Picked up the hf polisher, the wolfgang 4, lc pads 3 orange 2 white 1 black in the 5 1/2 size. The 5" backing plate. Also got the 3" backing plate and 2 orange 1 white 1black 1 red pads 1 blue pad. Nice there was the 20% coupon at wolfgang. Plan to do the daily driver before working on the Camaro SS. Both of these vehicles have tape stripes. How do I prevent damage to the stripes? Tape them off? Guess I my username should nave been newpowertool!

Taping off the stripes is a sound idea, it prevents the pad (and polish/wax) from getting on the stripes and causing greater issues. It only takes a few minutes to do and could save hours in the end.
