Gentlemen, I need some help on a good pair of gloves for detailing. More than one pair, brand, etc is fine. I need something for the 2BM, Decontamination steps, general purpose and so on. What are you guys using?

I think the black glove Larry@ammo using is great but I'm not use to wearing one. It's like digging nose with a plastic hand lol
Kinda slow me down :p

Hey Mike, I always wear gloves when detailing. Nitrile gloves are great when using liquids or working with extra dirty areas (wheels/ engines). Depending on job/dirt level I'll reuse or toss them when done to prevent cross contamination.

Make sure to get thick ones since the thinner gloves tear very easly. The gloves pictured are 6.3mils.

For general polishing/ working with a DA I switch over to general use gloves:

I like these because the back of your hand are vented allowing sweat to evaporate:

While the palms are coated with rubber for your protection:

For winter washes a buddy of mine uses wet suit gloves to keep his hands warm and dry:

Hope that helps!

I like the nitrile gloves as well but thinner ones so I can use them to replicate the Baggie test while claying. Also makes cleanup easier on the hands and nails without that dried out feeling many of the polymer loaded products leave.

On the sweat piece, it is annoying but you get used to it and it's easier to wash/wipe that off than break dust.

I use these. They work very well and don't tear. They also have a slight texture to them so it makes for a better grip. I also wash with them on and don't have a problem with them filling with water. They fit nice and snug. I get them a NAPA on sale for about $10.

:dblthumb2:

I only wear gloves when using or doing something I don't want touching my hands, other wise never wear them, they make my hands sweat too much.

I'm a fan of the Wurth Nitrile gloves. Reasonably thick, durable and the chemical resistance is top notch. Also gives you excellent grip on microfibers for when your cleaning glass in awkward positions.
