Which to use sf4000 or sf4500

I used m105 and then m205 on my interlagos blue bmw m3 and its left a hazy look when looking at it in the correct light. Im wondering which product I should use to remove that haze. I DO HAVE Sonax perfect finish but havent had a chance to try it out due to winter.

If I get the sf4000 can it replace my m205 to reduce a step?
If I get the sf4500 will it finish noticeably better than the sf4000?
Forget those and use Sonax perfect finish?

So basically will the sf4000 finish down well enough and have enough cut to replace m205. OR will I notice the difference if using sf4500 after m205.

I have a rupes duetto and a meguiars da....bunch of pads for both.

Sf4000 and sf4500 both finish the same imo, but sf4000 has a more cut, I would use sf4000

I'm going the other way and will say if it's just haze / no correction needed (although 4000 won't do much of that either), use the 4500! Great results with both.

And to further complicate things, here's Sonax PF on my 335i deck lid + Fuzion.

Just realized I didn't really answer your questions. Based on my experience...

SF4000 or 4500 will replace M205 nicely. BMW's seem to LOVE Menzerna products. I wouldn't hesitate to use either 4000 or 4500 as a replacement. If your compounding step is good, either will take things to the next level polishing-wise, and again, in my experience - both are amazingly easy to use.

I do like to try out different combinations and was thrilled with the finish of Sonax PF in the pic above. My experience is with a Flex 3401 and the hybrid pads which work beautifully.

I believe its just haze it almost looks like really light spider webs in certain spots but Im looking real hard in the sunlight for it.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to use SonaxPF due to the amount of cut after already using m105. Can I use SonaxPF + orange polishing/red finishing pad with light pressure to reduce the cut?

If the sf4500 and sf4000 really finish the same Id be better off buying sf4000 and toss the m205?

I should also add I have Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish too which really cleans the paint like crazy and brings out a serious gloss.

I'd go white or even black pad (hybrids) if you want to polish the finish with the Sonax. Less cut than the orange pads, and red are more for waxing, etc.

I wouldn't toss the 205 but if it's in the budget try 4000 / 4500 with white / black pad. This should bring the shine up nicely.

Since you have the Sonax, I'd definitely try that first! :xyxthumbs:

I have the rupes blue/yellow/white pads and red/blue/orange LC HD pads for the rupes. For the Megs DA I have a bunch of their pads black maroon beige yellow.

Gotcha..sorry for my misunderstanding...LC orange / red pads should work well with the PF. Try the red first and see how it goes...I think you'll like it. :xyxthumbs:

Did you try another pad? In my experience, Megs 205 scales very well with differing pad choices.

I don't think you need to buy anything. Between your M205, SPF, BFGEP, various pads and varying your technique a little, I think you should be able to remove that haze..

I used the white and yellow rupes pad both with m205 and BFGEP. Havent tried the HD ones nor SonaxPF till winter settles down.

I too have noticed M205 leave hazing on my jet black BMW. Yes SF4000 will replace M205 here.

Yes SF4500 will finish better than SF4000 provided you go to a third polishing step and softer pad combined with SF4500.

Yes it will.

Use FG400 and SF4000 as your two step process. If you really need more gloss and finish, pair SF4500 with a softer finishing pad.

My understanding of SF4000 and SF4500 is that they both offer the same level of finish (i.e. 10/10) if used on the same pad. The difference is that SF4000 has a cut of 4/10 and SF4500 a cut of 2/10, so you can remove less paint with SF4500, but finish at the same gloss (ideal for very thin or very soft paint)

Obviously if you drop down to a less aggressive pad with SF4500 you should get a slightly better finish as there is less possibility of pad marring. So in other words, the difference in finish is pad dependent, not product dependent.

Of course, I may just be misunderstanding things?

I have the older version and number of SF4500 called PO85rd.

It is incredibly fine. It's what I use for jeweling along with either a black or gold pad.

I have had wonderful luck with it. You won't ever get tired of driving the car down a dark road and looking at the reflection of the starry sky in the hood.
