I have just ordered a new car. My first with Brembo brake calipers. I realize they will get both hot and dirty. Any sugestions on the best wax/sealant to use to keep them looking new?

Thank You

Due to the temperatures calipers reach while working, I don't think your typical products will stand a chance in that environment.

My car doesn't have Brembo's, but it does have factory calipers painted a bright read. I just hit them directly with wheel cleaner, careful not to get it on the rotors, to keep them as clean as possible.

I look forward to hearing what other members here advise.

Welcome to AutoGeekOnline!

Your best option for protection on brake calipers is a coating.

Any examples? I do not want to paint them as they are new.

He's talking about paint coatings like you'll find here:

Car Paint, Glass & Trim Coatings, permanent paint coatings, trim coatings, car glass coating (http://www.autogeek.net/car-paint-glass-and-trim-coatings.html)

I don't use coatings, so I can't tell you which one would be best suited for your project.

I have Brembo's on my GT and they're coated with CQuartz UK. I've also used Pinnacle Black Label Wheel coating, that works great too!

CarPro Cquartz UK Edition 30 ml. (http://www.autogeek.net/carpro-cquartz-uk-edition.html)

Just an fyi stock Brembo pads are notorious for excessive brake dust...

I have Brembos and the dust is a nightmare!

Just curious on those who have done a coating - what prep work did you do? Obviously you can't do a traditional polishing so what cleaning or prep steps do you do before coating?

I just cleaned the calipers real good then 2 eraser wipedowns before applying UK. You should switch out to Ceramic pads, I have Hawk Ceramics - still have plenty of performance and very little to no dust at all...

Ironic you say that - Last month I switched out and have a pair of the hawks. Problem is my rig is a beast (Jeep SRT8) so even with the ceramics they kick off a good bit of dust. Prob 1/4 of what it was but still enough. And my calipers, i ran out of time to clean them all before having to throw the wheel back on so only got to the backs. So fronts need a thorough cleaning and backs will need a light cleaning and seal.

Ahh man love those SRT8s - SUV on steroids!!! Do you have a newer one? I like the older models because they were more square and sat lower with a more aggressive stance. Was shopping for an SUV for my wife, I was trying to convince her we should get an SRT8 but then she reminded me this is her vehicle lol...

Yeah I remember asking Corey about it UK vs Dlux, I opted for UK since I had a bottle cracked open already...

Yeah, I loved the old ones too but I did buy it new in 2012. Have a thing for wanting to know how a car has been cared for and all... Hence why I'm on AGO. But it's awesome - absolutely love it. Had kids so needed to trade in the fun little cars for a daddy-mobile but no minivan for me. Daddy needs to drive a bad MFer! 32915

I have found Gyeon rim holds up very well compared to the other one I used to use.
Nice vehicle I have done several of those!
