Big Kiwi Kia Ora to all the Autogeeks here! :dblthumb2:

So - I went along to a local charity car show today, raising $ for the local Hospice. I took the my camera along purely to show you guys & girls what kind of cars are floating around way down this side of the Pacific.

Though I tried to capture a few cars with really swirled up paint, I would've still been there taking pictures if I attempted to show you ALL the cars with swirled out paint. I got a couple of pics when the sun was playing ball.

Despite the condition of most of the paint on offer, we do have some really cool cars down here in New Zealand. I live in a little town called Blenheim, population around 30000 & almost all these cars are local & so many of the hot rod scene weren't on display, along with many other classics that I know of too. Not a bad car scene per population of people in New Zealand huh?

Pictures are in no particular order of make, model, hot rod, muscle cars, classics etc - hopefully you will enjoy the pictures . . . . :dblthumb2:

MAN...that's a lot of some fiiiine lookin' iron!

I WAS lookin' for a 'Bug' to show up...that one is a keeper for sure.

Two questions...is that MG TF an original or a 'kit car'? What's the story an the red Austin? No engine? A-35? (Well, I guess that's more than 2 questions.)

I am sooo jealous...all those folks sitting around in short sleeve shirts and shorts. Along with seeing real grass...so THAT'S what is looks like? I kinda forgot.

Are all those vehicles local or from all over South Island?

Hello Bill. :xyxthumbs:

You are resting that shoulder aye mate! :nomore:

The MG was in fact the real deal. Swirls were real too. The little Austin A30 is a work in progress, owned by a good friend & car painter - hoping to have it on the road before next summer. Really nice colour in person, is going to be a sweet little ride when he's done.

Sorry Bill, it was 25 degrees celsius with next to no wind, though the three days before we had rain, rain & more rain! Which (as much as I'm not a fan) we needed as 65% of NZ is in a drought. no grass at my house - its all brown & crunchy. I'd rather that than white & cold like you have though Bill.

Nearly all of these cars are local cars Bill. Not too bad for a little town huh? A lot of cars were missing too - I'd say around a dozen hot rods weren't there & a few more classics I can think of aswell. The guys on the gate said there were over 300 cars on display when we left.

Yeah, that VW was awesome aye Bill!? :props: Ya see the suitcases are on the rack, ready to head over for Detail Fest!

Thank you for looking in Bill. :xyxthumbs: Now go & REST that shoulder!

Cheers mate. :xyxthumbs:

Was a great day for sure. We had three days of steady rain before this & didn't think the show would happen.

Yes - unfortunately a fair amount of SIVs in this country are in this kind of condition. A hard scene to break into here - most owners would rather die than let someone touch their cars. A shame but true. I could be very busy if I could get through to more owners - sometimes like banging your head against a wall though.

A great day out. Yeah, that little Alpine is a nice car. Reminds me of Maxwell Smart. :props:

I'm hearing ya there my friend! Pretty bad huh? Some really nice cars with a bit of loving.

I didn't go with any intension for acquiring work, just a fun day out with the family. If I had the time I'm sure I could get a few interested owners on board.

Shoulder is SLOWLEY coming around. Just real hard to be in a 'not doing anything' mode...I end up attempting to do something...then big hurt.

That TF had me going when I saw the seats.

An A-30! I always have had a hard time keeping A-30 and A-35 apart. Shame on me though, I had an A-30 back in the day! That will be one neat little critter when finished.

Next to VW...BMC holds a big part of my past and heart.

Side bar: We'll be in the 50-60's (10-16C) by Wednesday! Snow is going bye-bye!

Thats good news about your shoulder Bill. :dblthumb2:

Wow! 10-16 degrees! Bet that is nice! You'll be looking to put in a swimming pool! That is a whole heap warmer than what you've been having though mate! Yay! :xyxthumbs:

TF was a great wee car - owner saw me taking that picture of the front guard/fender & got a nasty ol' rag out of his pocket & wiped the dust off . . . doh. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between an A30 & A35. If someone pointed it out I'm sure I would from then on though.

Surprised that the were only two VWs there, there are quite a few in & around our lil' town.

Enjoy the warmer weather Bill.

Aaryn...

The difference 'tween the '30' and '35' are subtle. The big change was an increase in horsepower (abet, tiny), a tranny change (don't remember what changes), the rear window was bigger. There were some other body modifications but can't remember what.

If you toss in the Austin "Seven" into the mix (which was the forerunner to the 30. All three are essentially the same car) ) they went from a side valve engine to and overhead valve. Which (if I remember correctly) was the start of the BMC "A" engine series that went on to become a long used engine.

Geeze, how do I remember that after all the years that have passed? LOL!!!
