Hi everyone, looking forward to start getting serious about my paint detailing and learning from everyone. I just bought the Harbor Freight DA polisher and will be doing the "mods" I found online(high temp bearing grease, rotating handle so switch is up,replace screws with allen heads and replace backer plate)

I also just ordered from here the lake country 5 1/2"foam pad 6 pack and their 5" backing plate. Should I be using a 6" pad with 5" backer?

Anyway as for cars I have an 08' CTS4 and the wife has a 08' Malibu and my baby is my 10' Corvette GS. Looking forward to learning all I can here!

Howdy Don and rcruz and welcome to AGO.
I also have the HF Polisher I have both 3 1/2" & 5 1/2" backing plates. I use B&S 5 1/2" and 4" pads. Also have 5" brushes for carpet and seats. I have not done any mods... yet
Don you can use 6" pads on the 5" BP and 7" pads on the 6" BP.
