How does this product compare to FG400? Things I dislike about FG400...

-Many compounds outCUT it and outFINISH it, but the low dusting levels is what I like
-takes forever to break down (wastes time and is very hard to remove if not broken down)
-strong chemical smell

Does Menzerna SHCC300 fulfill the shortcomings of FG400? If so, post all your thoughts and opinions on it here. Ultimately, I'm looking for something that performs as well as M101, without the god awful dusting issues!

-Menzerna SC300 will outcut FG400 but will not finish up as nice as FG400.
-There is a bit more dusting compared to FG400 but certainly not like other compounds
-DAT products take longer to break down than SMAT
-If you don't break down DAT polishes completely they are harder to remove
-If you do not like the smell of FG400 you won't like SC300

I have reviewed this product but not against any other compounds

Thanks Mike, that answered a lot for me. I guess the search continues for the perfect compound!

Would it be possible to know which products both outCUT and outFINISH Menz FG400?

I would like to know as well. I just ordered a gallon of FG400 during the Autopia sale because it's such a great product.

I got quarts each of FG and SF during a recent sale but I'm on detailing hiatus until this Arctic cold spell subsides for the year. Looking forward to it!

Now that others have chimed in, I want to know the answers to SameGuy's questions as well.

I'm also unsure of what to make of "takes forever to break down"... I don't think I've ever done less than six passes (usually eight) with any compound.

as stated above, Meguiars 101 outcuts, and outfinishes FG400 any day of the week. The only downside is that you are left with a ton of dust! It also wipes off with just one swipe, much easier than I have found to be the case with FG400.

I think I saw a Garry Dean video where he did a side by side with a few compounds, and M101 outperformed FG400 in all aspects except dusting.

I know the video you are talking about. IMO, the only reason in his video where FG400 came up short is because the compound itself was short changed.

Sure you can make 3-4 passes with SMAT based products and move on with great cut and finish. However with DAT based products you can not short change them and expect the same. DAT based products need really 6 passes to make sure everything is diminished.

Of course anyone can argue and say its not fair with a SMAT product you gave it 4 passes and the DAT 6 passes but in reality this is what these products require.

So two passes becomes "forever". I see.

It is 1 1/2 times the number of passes, so over an entire car that can add up. Being a hobbyest the two extra passes don't mean much to me. I hate the dust and just prefer to work with FG490. I have both.
If your making a living doing this, time is money so I can understand 1 1/2 times the number of passes being "forever"

If you're doing a two- (or really three-) step for a customer and charging appropriately, is rushing really the best way to go about it? Let's say the compounding step in a full correction takes three hours with a SMAT-based compound if you are trying to cut corners. Even with two more section passes, at most it adds another hour (wipes, pad cleaning and changes still takes the same amount of time). If all that matters is flipping the bay and getting as many cars done as possible, maybe full corrections aren't what he should be doing.

Not true. M101 does have more cut than FG400, but it does NOT finish better than FG400 on many paints. M101 can inflict so much marring on soft paint that dusting will be the least of your worries.

Anyhow, M101 and FG400 are top performers and tuff to beat. All compounds will dust under dry weather, warm paint, or being overworked.
