Guess I overestimated Meg's Cleaner Wax

Did it both by hand and also by DA Power System (Yellow Pad) didn't see much difference even though I applied pressure.

Only the area under door handles was full of scratches, it removed those.

I think maybe I didn't did correctly, also I didn't got to see any shine or little reflection in the paint.

You are asking more of the product than it is capable of. You need compound and/or polish machine applied to correct those areas that are correctable.

Get a GG or PC and polish, you'll be much happier.

OK, so it means that my car is not in that condition, that it can give results with cleaner wax. I mean it is in good shape however needed more powerful products to get more good results.

Am I right?

Yeah you are right. It says it right in the name. "cleaner" it cleans paint doesnt remove defects.

The cleaner wax works very well but as others have said it will not do much for those defects. If you want a cleaner wax that can correct some defects give Meguiar's White Wax a try. It's been said over on Meguiar's Online that White Wax uses the same abrasives as M101.

I used it with a polishing pad on a DA. This is a 50/50 of the side pillars on my car. Not major defects but it did a good job removing these.

I think my car color is silver, so maybe it has cleaned it to some extent. But I couldn't tell the difference. I should go for compound and polish.

Also I will try it on my brother black car which is little bit oxidized.

I'm assuming your using Meg's drill DA system?

A regular polisher is one specifically designed for polishing, can be a DA or rotary.

GG = Griot's Garage and PC = Porter Cable, these are DA.

In mu opinion, the damage shown in your pics is probably too much for Cleaner Wax to remove.... in fact some of them look like they are unlikely to completely come out at all...

You definitely need something ore aggressive .... however, just as a point of reference, don't discount what Meguiars Cleaner wax is capable of in terms of correction ability, especially on softer paints.

This was a Toyota I did with cleaner wax and think the results are quite decent for an AIO product....

Those topics, two of them my articles are accurate. The issue is the cleaner/wax you chose is on the very light side of cleaning and offers very little in abrading and the reason for this is because it's a consumer product targeted at a very wide spectrum of the population.

For this reason it is formulated to be very safe and very safe mean very NOT aggressive.


In this article I wrote I didn't include Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax because we don't carry it on the AG Store.

If I had included it I would have placed it in Category #1 or #2, probably #2 because it does offers a little abrading ability from memory.

After going thru the topic you shared, now I understand the level of cleaning the cleaner wax can do. The car you were doing was pretty bad in shape. So it cleaned it to some extent, but in my case the car is already good in shape needs a little more cleaning which only can be achieved with compound/polish.

Ahaan, so I should have picked up cleaner/wax from the ones you mentioned in that topic, "my bad". When I read that topic for the first time I then searched for any cleaner in Meguiars in my city because here only this brand is available and I didn't want to wait much by ordering from Autogeek.

But now I know, so will remember this for future.

Apart from this can you guide me which pads to buy for a DA Polisher, as I will be buying myself my first DA soon.

if you want a fantastic AIO, then pick up some megs white wax. IIRC, the white wax is a little more aggressive than D151 and lasts a little longer too. plus you don't have to buy it buy the gallon and available otc...
