I have a friend/co-worker who has a hot rod he built that has a matte black paint job which he covered in a matte clear coat. He was asking me questions about detailing it after he saw how my car looked after I detailed mine.

My car is not matte, but since he knows I'm into detailing he asked for advice. I have no experience with matte finishes other than I saw that Chemical Guys has a matte wash soap that I told him about. Since it has a matte clear coat could it be prepped and topped with CQuartz or some other type coating?

Also, how would you prep a matte clear coat? I appreciate any information that yall can share. I'd love to help him detail his car for the car shows he takes it to especially if I can get him to let me drive it for detailing it for him.

Prep is just wash with correct soap, wipe with prep recommended by coating ,no polishing,no clay. It is strange, you think you missed something! Coating wise,Gyeon,CARPRO and Dr. Beasley would be worth a look.

I thought there would be more to it than wash, prep, and coat.
