Good question Mark.

I've watched that video (and recommend it to otherd) since right after it was put up.

The closest thing they come to is around 12 minutes in the *say* it can be mixed at "up to 256:1" but then say they are putting in 2 ounces for 2 gallons.

So in the bucket at least we know they're doing 128:1. In the spray bottle.... who knows. :dunno:

FWIW pretty much settled on 192:1 & 256:1 with a 20 & 28 percent alcohol mixture to make "panel wipe".

First, here's the original thread I created for this video with the video embedded using the correct code to make it show up as a graphic video player.

Do you know what dilution Jason used in the spray bottle with D114 in the video link?

Thanks

I don't remember and when I re-watched the video I didn't see it mentioned. The stated dilution level is one ounce per gallon for light duty cleaning and two ounces per gallon for dirtier cars.

Since there's 64 ounces in a gallon to mix a 32 ounce bottle

1/2 ounce per 32 ounces of water for light duty cleaning
1 ounce per 32 ounces of water for dirtier cars.

Some people might even eye ball it and use the glug glug method and simply get to work. :D

Here's two questions for you...

1. What are you working on?

2. What are you trying to accomplish?

I've always taken away from the below discussion, what the various dilution ratios for D114 can be, based on how an individual ranks "dirtiness":

Thanks for the positive and very in depth review of this new product of ours!

We want to address a couple of things, though:

Regarding dilution ratio, we are going to be clarifying this in our new catalog and upcoming tech bulletin to reflect 128:1 dilution (1 oz per gallon) for heavy duty cleaning and 256:1 (1 oz per two gallons) for more routine cleaning. What we see in these images would be classed as more "routine" cleaning so the lower dilution ratio would have sufficed. We apologize for the oversight on the current label.

We're glad you noticed and commented on the very easy wipe off/drying of the product - that's something we really shot for and found to be superior to most similar products on the market. We intentionally left out the addition of any polymers or other protection here because we know a lot of mobile guys are moving toward this sort of wash system and don't want any poylmers, etc "getting in the way" of the correction steps they plan on doing as part of their service. D114 will allow them to thoroughly and quickly clean the vehicle prior to pulling out the DA or rotary, and not leave anything behind that might in any way hamper their initial correction steps.

As some of you might suspect, our consumer line Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere is closely related to D114 with the obvious exceptions of it being a spray on product (and therefore not suitable for cleaning a vehicle quite as dirty as you would clean with a "rinseless" product like D114) plus UWWA offers some pretty durable polymer protection that D114 is lacking - for the reasons stated above.

Those of you looking to use D114 as a clay lube or QD mist & wipe type product will, we suspect, start experimenting with it as such (as you guys are prone to experiment with all sorts of things, which we actually applaud!) but we haven't set in stone any dilution ratios for those processes as of yet.
Accordingly:
These are the D114 dilution ratios that I use
(adjust ounce amounts per container size):

I'll tell you what I do for D114's dilution ratios...
and it starts with how dirty/soiled that I deem the various panels to be.

The D114 dilution ratios I so far have used are:
• A 1:256 ratio for lightly soiled panels...
down to:
• A 1:192 ratio for medially soiled panels...
down to:
• A 1:128 ratio for the most heavily soiled panels...
and all the way down to:
• A 1:15 ratio for a "panel wipe"

THANK YOU TONY, MIKE & BOB!!! :props: :props:

I will be using it in a way that probably no one else on the earth will....lol.

I will do a traditional wash as normal. After rinsing, I will spray via garden sprayer as a drying aid. I know there's plenty of other drying aids, but I want to use something that leaves nothing behind. I'm try the equivalent of 1:256 ratio.
