Severe acid rain and water spot etchings on this black Chevy Silvarado. Not sure if I can save this one or not. 3M Trizact 1500/3000 is the trick but paint thickness readings even just after initial polishing are in the danger zone. Just not a lot to work with here. We will see how it goes. Hopefully we can avoid a lights-on respray. No promises.

Nice save. What were the readings with your PTG? Was the clear OEM or repaint?

Nice! Zero Orange Peel is an added bonus.

Beautiful work, Tundra! Given those conditions you masterfully improved it.

Thanks. Orange Peel is the least of this things worries. LOLOLOL.

PTG readings after sanding and initial polishing averaged about 130 mils but as low as 79. 100 is the danger zone for me. OEM paint.

WOW WOW WOW!!!! Beautiful Work!! Incredible Artist as I see it. Talk about TundraPower!! You kicked AZZ on that!!

If you don't mind me asking...my guess you did a wet sand/compound/polish. If it's none of my business I understand. The reason why I am asking is that I see alot of AGO post corrections and IMO this was a severe one and one of the more difficult corrections I have seen.

Either way BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!

This paint is actually beyond repair, but owner wanted me to give it a shot and maybe avoid a lights-out respray. This is just after sanding with Trizact 1500/3000/5000 and initial light compound with Rupes Zephir and Rupes yellow pad. Tons of work I still have not posted. Give me a little time :)

I was going to ask you what a lights-on respray was, but now I see it's a lights-out respray. If it has to be resprayed, I hope the painter does it with the lights on.

Huh?

Well after 43 hours we made it. I saved this horribly damaged truck. It's not perfect, but about as good as I can get it without getting into dangerously low levels of clear coat. Finished in Blackfire Sealant and Swissvax Endurance, cured under Infratech Medium wave heat lamps. Special thanks to Barry Theal, Swissvax USA, and 3M Trizact sanding products.
