Today I had a chance to use my new Cyan pads along with my Flex 3401, it's worth gold IMO.

Two doors had severe scratches and orange peel.
So I wet sanded both doors using 1500 and 3000 3M sanding disk.
For sanding I used my GG6

It left the clear smooth and very flat, ready for compounding and polishing.

First look, you can't see the orange peel but definely can see some serious swirls and scratches.

After wet sandng

So it was time to compound and polish.
First I used m105 , my new Cyan pad then m205 along with a white LC Flat pad, both using my Flex 3401.

Here's the results I ended up with after working part of the door.

All done, flawless paint.

My thoughts on the Cyan pads,

Very dense foam, at first I was like maybe too aggressive , I was wrong, not only did I find them to be the best pad for cutting but it really leaves the paint smooth and very clear, my new go to pads.
If you have been looking into buying the Cyan pads please do yourself a favor and try a few, I think you'll love them:dblthumb2:

I'll order a dozen of the pads, they work that good for me.

Nice work Kevin. I too love me some Hydrotech pads. If you like those on your flex, you MUST try the hybrid pads. IMO, the best foam pad for the Flex. Hell, I'll even send you a few to try, just shoot me a pm.

Could's ask for better results.

The m105 worked very well with the Cyan pads, primed first.
Little to no dusting.:dblthumb2:

The Flex seems to love these pads.
Very smooth for the operator.

I'll be ordering more of these pads next week:dblthumb2:

Let us know what you thinking of them.

I've done some test spots with 105, and fg400, and they both perform wonderfully with the pad. Very similar foam composition to the yellow hex logic, but with the flat pad feel.

While the green hex is my go to cutter, I plan on keeping the Cyan pads in stock. In fact, I'm going to complete the set of Hydrotech pads.

What I like about them, is that feel wise they remind me of my old go to cutter, the Megs burgundy pad. The operate with great efficiency, and excellent transfer of power from the machine to the paint. I like how I can almost "feel" the abrasives as they work the paint.

Keep in mind that I used them on my Porter Cable. I just recieved my 4 3/8" plate for my 3401, and will try the combo as soon as I can.

I have plans to make videos of all my favorite pads this spring/summer.

My practice panel encountered damage and I hit a sharp edge that left a faint mark in the pad, but nothing life threatening. I cleaned them "on the fly" using Mike Phillips's technique, and washed them at the end of my practice session using GC pad cleaner, and the pad cleaning brush very gently. They almost feel rubbery when wet.

WRT "They almost feel rubbery when wet": I noticed a very slight sensation like that with the tangerines, too. Strange thing I find with the HTs is that they stain pretty quickly and never seem to give up the stains. Not sure why that is as I wash all pads the same way and none of my Meg's foam pads (burgundy, yellow and white) nor my new Hybrids (orange and white) do that. FWIW I've switched over almost entirely to Hybrids now, with the 3401. The Meg's foams and MFs, and the HTs will have their place, but so far the Flex and Hybrids have made stupid-easy work of anything I've thrown at them.

I too plan on getting the entire set.
As for cleaning them I use my DP Cleaning Gun.
It gets all of the old polish off quickly allowoiing to go further without having to chage pads so often.

I was almost shocked as to how well the m105 performed when using it with the pad, no "Gumming" and little to no dusting, I did however hit it with a mist of water on my last couple of passes to increase my work time.

What type of foam are they using in the hybrid pads?

As far as I know and I could possibly be wrong, is that the Hybrids feature a closed cell face with an open cell center mass. Hence the Hybrid naming.

Maybe Dave@LakeCountry could comment?
