Vacuum advice

I'm going to start off by saying that I am only a weekend warrior. On that note, I have been using my home vacuum to vacuum the interiors and though it works fine it can become a nuisance because of the size. I'm mostly just picking up crumbs and fine things such as that. So my question is, is there any vacuum that can do what I need and is an easier shape/size that comes at the price a weekend warrior can feel good about.

Since you're currently using your home vacuum, I'd suggest getting something like this. It is small, easy to handle, hangs one the wall, and will definitely handle the small jobs.

I have a larger shopvac that I use, but I also find it cumbersome. I'm going to pick up one of these little ones for the simple, basic jobs.

I've heard great things about this vacuum:

RIDGID 4-gal. Wet/Dry Vacuum-WD4070 - The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-4-gal-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-WD4070/202077241)

I've done a lot of research too, and when my larger shop-vac finally kicks it, this is what I'll be switching to. Its a little bigger and a little pricier than the other one mentioned but has twice as much HP meaning it will probably be more efficient. It also has rear wheels so it can easily be pulled along if needed.

Ive tried a little bit everything. Ive had small shop vacs, I have a metro vac and blo but recenly picked up a shop vac wet/dry 10 gal/6.5 hp for under 100 bucks and absolutley love it.

I got this one from CG. It has been fine - my only gripe with it is it vacuums while blowing simultaneously. You just have to keep that in mind while using it.

I have 2 shop vacs in the garage. I have the Rigid 4070 4 gal unit. Lots of power and works awesome. I also got one of the Shop-Vac 2.5 gal units. While the 2.5 gal unit is more convienient Sometimes, I like the power of the Rigid. If I had to just have one, I would use just the Rigid 4 gal unit.

Rigid makes a five hp small vac with wheels. I've had mine for eight years now. Filter changes and I did pull some straw papers into the motor. I pulled it apart and it works good as new. It is a tank!

You are welcome! I picked up this little shopvac today and used it with a Bissell extractor tool (http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-314-9162-Tough-Stain-Assembly/dp/B003G0GFDM)to clean my cloth seats. It worked very well! The vacuum is small and lightweight, although I wish the hose was a little longer. It is 4' long. I had to keep it right next to the car in order to reach the seat comfortably. I also put it on the floor of the front seat. That worked fine, too. Since it is so small, it can go just about anywhere. The suction was good and I watched the nastiness go through the extractor attachment. My seats look so much better. I'll mount this little vac on the wall, out of the way. Oh and it was easy to clean, too. I opened it, dumped the extracted water, rinsed it out, and done.

I read some great things about that one, too. If I were going for a bigger one to replace my regular 6 gallon, shopvac, I'd likely get this one. I like that it has a smaller footprint than some traditional shopvacs, and it isn't top-heavy, either. Really, a nice design. I just wanted something smaller, so the little one fit the bill nicely. If you ever get this one, let us know how it works. I suspect it will be very good!

I got this one as well but have yet to use it so not much to add. Other than I had a cheapie Stanley like 2.5hp one and it wasn't great.

Sweet! I'll actually probably end up getting it in the next week or so. I just added a pressure washer, and I need to make room in my mobile vehicle for it and the only way is to downsize from my current 9 gallon shopvac. I'll post my thoughts on it once I get a chance to use it.
