I am always trying to find good, basic clay for the best value. Anybody have any tips here? I already have the nanoskin sponge and like them, but like clay a bit better

I've always liked Meg's clay that comes in the kit that's sold in stores. It doesn't crumble, it picks-up contaminants, it doesn't smear, and seems to last.
I've never tried PBMG clay though. However, I have Pinnacle poly clay in my basket and think I'll give it a try.

I'm still using the BlackFire clay.

The clay magic works very well. You can buy the single bars as well locally.

I've always been a fan of the Griots Garage clay. For the same price as many of the others, it is mich larger and does an excellent job. It is an 8oz clay (over 220 grams). For comparison sake, the Meguiars kit contains two 80 gram bars.

With that said, I recently tried the Nanoskin Autoscrub sponge. I love it. I still have my Griots clay, though. Both are fantastic products.

I pick up the Mothers kit when I need it from O'reillys or walmart.
Is there a big difference between Mothers and Griots performance wise?

Mothers clay kit is a great option, includes a MF, 2- 80 grams clay and the lube. Not bad for around $20

Clay Magic (blue) is great and been around for a while. I have a seller on eBay that I buy a dozen bars (in original package) for $60.

The griots seems very affordable from a smaller otc store with discount and has a good amount in the jar with good reviews. Its not that I hate autogeek as I have ordered alot from them, just that its hard and expensive with clay supplies. IMO Clay is one of the most necessary steps to detailing.

I'd check Amazon for a mothers clay kit. I've seen it go for around $12.00 with subscribe and save. Hard to beat for 2 bars and a quick detailer, and the towel is actually pretty decent

I liked the mothers quick detailer, but I really just like using onr in quick detailer form
