I've tried many different tire dressings & cleaners and frankly they all work well but simply don't last. After one or two rains, they dressing is gone and the tires look neglected. And since cleaning and dressing tires is not high on my fun to do list, I've tried in vain to find a coating style product that doesn't need to be applied weekly. Tuff Shine never worked well for me and yet I've seen & read tons of threads where members were/are thrilled.

The DP Tire Cleaner was super easy, two cleanings per corner (per the label instructions) and they were good to go. That was important because with Tuff Shine I was cleaning each tire like 6 times (really?) and it still didn't last. I've documented the last month so you can see for yourself my results. The coating was applied via a yellow foam pad (generous/heavy application) and then brushed in to get full coverage.

Keep in mind the test mule was a 911S that has super sticky rubber and I've learned (thank you Nick) that the compound does make a huge difference with these type of products. To that end I've just treated my wife's X3 that has rock hard run flats with all season radials so hopefully I get similar results.

My expectations for this type of product is 30 days - if it lasts more than that fantastic. But unless it gives me results that literally all I have to do is hit the tires with hose water (no scrubbing, cleaner or dressing required), I'm not interested.

So far I'm very pleased with the results and have no problem recommending this system. But I'll let the photos do the talking...the fourth and final shot has the truest color and is a very good representation of what the gloss looks like. It's not as glossy as Day 1 but...they do look like I just used a semi gloss style dressing (e.g. Adams Super VRT) and this is after 28 days.

Nice results with DP. If I didn't have a tire coating right now, I'd want to try it. But hey, if you're still in the hunt for alternative tire coatings, you should check out this mega-thread:

Coated my tires today and WOW! (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/78659-coated-my-tires-today-wow.html)

Just curious, what were your issues with Tuf Shine?

Tuff Shine was way to finicky about how to clean the rubber.

I thought you can use any good APC (D101, CG All Clean) to clean the tires. Once they're clean any dressing could be applied.

So did I but that's wrong. When using Tuff Shine u MUST use their tire cleaner and it takes multiple (read 6) cleanings to get the foam to turn white indicationg your good to go. And this was on well maintained tires. The DP Tire Cleaner turned white on the second scrubbing.

IME, the treatment is lasting around 45-60 days, but it's not the rainy season yet so that might be a little optimistic come the summer months here in South Florida. However I'm please with both the tire cleaner and the coating - good stuff.
