I'm still a newbie to the detailing world. I made attempt at removing some scratches off of my winter beater. Its a 1996 520I BMW euro spec. The hood, roof and trunk have hail damage and clear coat failure. So I can't make it look worse.
I used my recently purchased Groits DA an orange pad a some of my free sample of wolfgang swirl remover.

Came out pretty good, but I plan on taking it a step further and got some 2500 sandpaper and try wet sand some and then some more wolfgang swirl remover.

I washed it the other day and hit it with some Hydro2 it had some nice beading this morning

Still there but way better.

Glad I have this car to experiment with.

For a winter beater you sure made those areas look brand new..It would be amazing to see the wonders you could achieve to the whole vehicle

Soon your "beater" will look nicer than most of the cars on the road. Good work especially considering that you didn't even use a heavy cut compound. :xyxthumbs:

Nicely done. Looks much better.

Your next step to improve the affected areas should be a more aggressive compound such as Wolfgang Uber again with the Orange pad.

If that doesn't do the trick then start with 3k sandpaper. This should be enough to greatly reduce the affected areas and will also be much easier to polish out than 2500.
