This is our own car we picked up recently.

The dealership was very accommodating and had no issues with me picking up the car the way I wanted to. Nothing was removed from the vehicle by the dealer.

We picked up the car with 3 miles on it, on a Friday night, and drove it home. Part of Saturday and all day Sunday and Monday I protected the car.

Paint was flawless, so after a wash, clay, and Optimum's Prep Polish, I coated the exterior paint first, with Opti Coat Pro and once done, I coated all other (like jambs) painted surfaces, followed by Opti Seal (60 minutes later), and a final layer of Optimum Car Wax. Next, all the glass including the side view mirrors were treated with Opti Glass Pro.

Once the exterior was done, I applied protection to the carpets, seats, and all plastic. The only area is the headliner that was not protected inside - every other inch has protection with either Opti Guard Leather or Opti Guard Fabric.

Lastly, I focused on wheels and exterior plastic. Wheels received Opti Coat Pro, exterior plastic and wheel wells were coated with Opti Lens. (headlights also received Opti Lens on top of Opti Coat Pro)

hahaha, very nice! and finally someone to take the heat off of me for being the ultimate OPT fan boi!!

were you anxious about how the clear bra people would treat the finish you did? did they do the work over the coating/opti-seal/ocw?

also...i can't get into details, but heads up: i highly recommend to at least take the large pieces of protective plastic off at the dealer so you can examine the paint ahead of time AT the dealer. things can happen to cars prior to arriving at the dealer hidden under the plastic and if you waive everything, it can be an uphill battle with the manufacturer. been there.

cars from overseas can get damaged on the ship and repaired at port. cars made in North America can get damaged before, on or after the rail/truck and sometimes even the dealer truck delivery guys will damage a car and take it to get repaired without telling anyone. it sucks.

Very nice. Looks like I have a plan for my next Subaru. What's the interior of an unprepped car like? Did you have to do a lot of cleaning prior to protecting?

Thank you all very much!

DF - This car was mint, and all the new ones that I work on are the same way. Don't let the silverbacks touch your car.

Thanks! I have already paid for all these products, why not use them? :props:

I think the shop was a lot more nervous than I, after I made it clear what I didn't want to happen to the paint. They are nice guys and did do a good job. I took my own towels for them to use.

I also put OCP over the clear bra a week later. So the clear is sandwiched now.

I hear you about the protective cover and I normally tell my customers to do that, but I just knew the finish would be fine and it was. The shipment came in on the scheduled day.

Why do you continue to use this racist, derogatory term?

Thank you for being concerned.

If you did this for a living, you'd know that the majority of detailers are chimpanzees, gorillas with a mitt and should not go anywhere near a car. I also call dealership hacks silverbacks.

Sorry if that bothers you.

This is what bothers me:

1 -
Somewhere in America, a woman is raped every 2 minutes

2 - at any one time, 50% of catholic priests are sexually active.

3 - according to the Vatican, at least 15% of the priests are pedophiles.

You are welcome.

Please keep the thread on topic, if you have an issue with me, take it to PM

i think that is the first time i've seen urban dictionary used as a citation for a serious
question/post.

FWIW

"monkey with a buffer"

"monkey with a wrench"

all things i hear pretty often when referring to sub-par "technicians", particularly the first one re: dealer..."detailers".
