After ruining a couple of purple ultra plush microfiber towels when levelling and buffing EXO, I decided there has to be a cheaper alternative.

The flat-weave towel that comes in the EXOv2 kit seems to do a fine job levelling the product. Because I'm not actually "forcefully" removing product and vigorously buffing to get a shine, can I use a cheaper utilitarian microfiber such as the Kirkland Gold, folded in thirds twice?

Problem I see with the Kirklands is they can lint...I personally love the CarPro Suede MFs - $2 a pop tho...

Microfibertech has some cheap options. Locally though I'd go with some viking towels

I've been using the short nap "all purpose" towels from Detailed Image/Autoality for a few years now. They've worked well with OCP, OC 2.0, 22ple VX1 Pro, 22ple Mistico Elemento, CQF (V6), Americoat, & Gloss-Coat.

They are cheap enough that I only use them on coatings once and then re-purpose for other duties.

Gold plush Jr. They're cheap enough.

$7 each is cheap? I was thinking more like 50¢ each like the Kirklands or maybe a dollar like TRC Dairy Towels. I'll go as much as $2 but I don't think I need a super- or ultra-plush to level a coating and remove it once only to have to relegate the towel to engine and jamb duty.

Why risk using a cheap towel on a vehicle that you just perfected and coated? Wait until they go on sale or bogo and the price is pretty reasonable.

That's what I figured when I ruined the first couple of purple ultra-plushes, and why I started this thread asking for cheaper alternatives.

I only use CarPro suede MF's. They're cheap and I have never once had an issue with marring or linting. I stocked up on the 25% sale.

That's a good option. I have a ten-pack of 16x16 suedes from TRC that I was going to cut and use for the CarPro applicators (no real chance of lint from the cut edges. I can use whole cloths for levelling. Thanks!
