This poor AMG Benz had been seriously violated by someone! Far as I could tell it was DA sanded and wrecked with improper rotary buffing skills... The DA sand marks or "Pig Tails" were so bad the first time I saw the car out in the sun I thought it was metallic blue. I have a lot of respect for the person who tried to detail this if you can call it that... They did not miss a single spot in the sanding attempt, except behind the back plate because like any hack they left it on the car because "if you'll never see it doesn't matter right?". Well these little things should of been a sign of what was to come. Lets get on with it!

Out side after a wash and paint decontamination I was still thinking this wasn't going to be bad Just some buffer swirls to deal with...

Inside using my point lights revealed a new story! HOLY SANDING MARKS BAT MAN! The flat areas were not that bad but the amount of edge work I had to be aggressive with was very trying!

My good friend Jeff of Immaculate reflections popped in for a bit to lend a hand :)

After a few hours he had the trunk deck all compounded. And not to take away from any of my usual help but this car was so hard to work on that the only people that had success was my self and Jeff. Everyone else very much left me "on my own". After this Jeff had to go... something about a perm or highlights.. I guess it takes work to keep immaculate hair.

Use with caution! skipped heavy and went to nuke status with flash pads and a rotary for my initial compounding. This is some serious aggression that is usually only reserved for ex wives..

I spent close to 10 hours on the rear end of this car compounding! No special lights needed to see the difference on this bumper!

More awesome edge work on a car that had clearly been sanded and violated by aggressive rotary polishing. This wasn't scary at all I promise!

It was so crushing, every time I finished a section and was happy with it. I'd move my light over and little bit of joy and accomplishment I had would quickly go away. IT seemed to never end!

BLING! Seriously this car tried my patients and skills at level I have not experienced since before I was experienced. I was so happy when it was done and it looked GREAT!

Awesome work! I myself just had a AMG that was killed by the improper use of a rotary unfortunately I didn't have the help though, it was a painful 5 days.

Nice work

Did the Owner confirm that the car had been sanded?

I have actually witnessed 1st hand this type of damage inflicted with a Rupes 21, Compound and a pad that was not totally clean

Some of the damage that was done looked similar to your pictures, but I would characterize most of it as bad tick marks and a few pigtails that had the distinct Rupes long-stroke with a direction change at the end...they look more like a fish hook, than a pig tail from a 8mm DA sander

And I'm 100% sure it was sanding pig tails. If you look at the album on Photobucket its pretty obvious. I know the marks your talking about, I've done that a time or 2 DOH! And customer bought car with 4k miles on it and wasn't sure. He really thought it was metallic blue.

Nice job dood!! :dblthumb2:

I imagine you removed a good amount of clear by having to compound that much?

that's what spurred my question about paint measurements.

Awesome save :dblthumb2:

I am also curious about how much paint was on the car, and how much was removed.
