Hey everyone,
I was one of the lucky winners on Detail City to try out the new Cobra Indigo bonnets. So right off the bat I must say thank you to everyone at Autogeek for letting me try these out.
I've never been a fan of bonnets but the only ones I have are terry cloth. Most of the products I use are very easy to remove so I don't see the point in using the PC to remove a wax. Plus you may need more than one bonnet to remove wax from a whole vehicle.
That was my opinion prior to today. After a little seat time with the Indigo bonnet on a 6.5" CCS finishing pad, I'll have to admit, I'm impressed. The MF didn't get clogged as I thought it would, it was uber easy to remove wax and quick. No arm fatigue if you are used to using a PC or UDM.
I got some DuPont Spray Wax for free from Pep Boys a few years ago. I tried it and did not like it at all. It was a major pain to remove so it went to the back of the shelf. Since I wanted to test the bonnet on a difficult wax, this was the perfect product. I purposly applied the wax thick to push the bonnet to the limit.
The left side of the hood was removed using a normal edgeless Cobra Indigo towel. These are nice because they can remove difficult waxes and polishes without marring or scratching from the stiching. The right side was removed with the bonnet with the UDM on speed 3. The UDM or the towel couldn't remove all of the wax... I even turned the UDM up to speed 6 with no avail. So I had to use some Poorboy's Spray and Gloss to help the process.

As you can see in the afters there was a lot of residue left on the paint. The S&G did a good job of cleaning the rest of the paint up. As you can see, the bottle of spray wax fell off the seat of my bike and the sprayer broke off... bummer. I'm still not 100% sold on bonnets because wiping off the products sold at AG are a breeze to use. However, if you find that you applied a wax or polish too thickly and want to remove it without using a ton of elbow grease, this will work great. This weave type of microfiber is very high quality and quite effective on these difficult waxes and polishes.
