A very well known vinyl wrapper on Long Island, NY contacted me to do some work on his recently wrapped Nissan GTR. The supercar is wrapped in a chameleon color vinyl that changes color from green to purple AND is wrapped from head to toe in Xpel Ultimate PPF. What a combo!

Now the car sits outside and gets driven daily. After sitting outside and getting soaked by the sprinklers every day, the car developed a very bad case of waterspots on all of the glass. These spots could not be removed by hand and required extensive polishing. He had assumed the glass had to be replaced, but I assured him that I could correct the issue and protect them.

We schedule a CQuartz Finest detail along with a glass restoration and coating with Opti-Glass Pro. At Xclusive Autoworks, I like to provide my customers with a wide variety of coating options. :xyxthumbs:

The wheels and exhaust were in very rough shape. This car definitely likes to make a mess when driven.

After cleaning up the wheels, I began to prepare the exterior for the coating by washing carefully with CarPro Reset which leaves no residue behind but is powerful enough to remove oils and contaminants.

As you can see the waterspots were bad, and on every panel. I carefully taped up all corners and covered the car in painters paper to prevent any damage to the delicate vinyl.

And after the water spot removal, you can finally see again!

And then I moved onto working the exhaust tips.

After polishing the glass and coating with Opti-Glass Pro, I moved onto coating the paint with Cquartz Finest.

While detailing the GTR, I had a local filmmaker come by and shoot some footage that came out awesome. Huge thank you to Sammy at SchwaaFilms (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoBX08E0rnqbVAFc83wTNIg).

Nice work! Did you machine polish the glass or use something like Spotless?

Nice work, really brought that car back. Curious as to what your process is for getting those tips looking brand new.

Yes, I have not personally worked on one, but I follow guys on FB that have polished it out.

Here is my question on this car and others like it. The PPF is supposed to be somewhat flexible, right? Would that not change by applying CQuartz or another coating over the PPF?

Appreciate all the kind words everyone!

As for polishing vinyl, many types can be polished, but care must be used. There are strict guidelines set by the manufacturers to avoid particular products. Takes some testing and experimenting, but it's not rocket science ;)

As for coating the PPF, some people think so, but there is no evidence that ceramic based coatings or pre-polymer based coatings hinder the performance of self healing PPF. In this case, it just makes it easier to clean and maintain.
