I read this guy's thread working on a skyline gtr. He sanded down the entire car because of Orange peel. It turned out unbelievable. The paint looks like a mirror.

I know dealership Orange peel has been talked about. I'm sure it's probably better to leave it alone but man after seeing what this guy did, it sure is tempting.

Frank...

Although removal of OEM orange peel---via wet-sanding and subsequent compounding and polishing steps---can and has been done to many OEM paint jobs...paint jobs that have very, very, very thin CC paint...

Here's a couple of things I keep in mind:

•Cobraa's project vehicle you reference is more than likely a Show Car...not a Daily Driver.

•It is blessed to have had the following:

The painter was too generous with his clear coat;

•I take notice of the EPTG readings being this high...
even after the wet-sanding process!!

-Wouldn't it be nice if the vehicles coming out of the OEMs' paint kitchens had paint closer to this thickness.

Actually around here the JDMs are almost all DDs. People spend crazy money pimping JDMs and other imports, just to drive them. And race them (illegally, Fast and the Furious style).

I understand Bob. I don't think about how cheap the avg family sedan paint is. I'll just keep dreaming.

All seriousness, my paint looks pretty sharp. Some of these guys though are incredible with their work
