I was wondering if I could get some feedback from any members who have used the pc on their bikes. I was thinking of a 3.5 backing plate with 4 inch pads?

I used a 4" pad on mine. I have a 3" but thought that would be just too small and the gas tank is a fairly large area to work on, at least for motorcycles. My only concern was the thickness of the clear coat. Here everyone talks about car paint. I would think motorcycles have a thicker coat of clear but I didn't get carried away just in case I was wrong.

The 3.5 backing plate with 4 inch pads works great, I also have some 3" pads and GG3 for smaller areas or just apply some wax.

I would recommend 3" pads for a bike, with the 3" Lake Country backing plate.

Here's a cruiser I did a few months ago:

I did feel the 3" was not to big and not to small. I haven't tried a 4" yet on my PC. However, I really enjoy having a 3" setup since I also use it for headlight detail jobs, or for smaller areas on a car, such as side view mirrors. Just be aware that the PC with a 3" backing plate is pretty strong and the chances of burning paint do go higher with the smaller BP on a PC.

Yes Mr. Hernandez. ...keep detailing my friend. As usual top notch work. I have seen some of your photos and your work is really nice. I have heard some good things on the HD product. I am undecided on a 3.5 or 3 back plate.

Personally I prefer using 4 inch pads with my GG6. 3 inch pads are ok for tight areas but it's just more difficult to control the polisher. It feels like it wants to tip over on you. Plus I assume you have a Flhx .. It would take forever to buff that thing out with 3 inch pads!

Griots ROP with 3" backing plate and pads worked great on this Harley I did. I say go for it.

I like the extension for the 3", I am going to look into that.

On a side note, there are only two fasteners holding on the tank console, remove that to make polishing much easier. Plus it gets awfully dirty under there.
