View Full Version : Cobra Cross Grove

Did a search and couldn't find what I needed. I have a Porter cable and bought some new pads (cobra cross grove) and the pads keep falling off? Even if I just hold it upside down. I tried a couple of my older pads Lake Country pads and they are not staying on either. Is my backing plate wore out? I have only done about 6-7 cars with it. It is about 6-7 years old though. Am I doing something wrong or should I try a new backing plate?

Welcome to autogeek....it sound like you need a new backing plate

Thank you. Long time lurker first time poster. Just frustrating when your moving along and the pad wont stay nicely on the porter cable. Will the 3m backing plate work well with the Cobra Pads? Thanks, Troy

Yeah I understand what you mean,though it looks like the 3m
5 inch backing plate will accommodate your 6.5 cross groove cobra pads

The Lake Country backing plate works great. With 3m you're paying for the name.

Yeah that's what I think I have one there now and it is throwing pads.
