No way am I a pro detailer but with this machine it makes me look like one.

I've used the old huge orbital for years. I do know how to use a high speed and have used one with success but it freaks me out each time as I don't want to damage the paint.

I recently picked up a 1969 F100 that is black. I can't really tell if it was ever painted cause of the few marks on it the paint is not stacked up. Anyway, I gave it a good bath, used the clay bar and went to town. I usually use the 3M Perfect-It compound but I had a bottle of meguires ultimate compound and polish. I'm not done as the truck is just a toy in the garage. I still have the passenger side to do and then a coat of wax but this machine has made quick work.

I'm learning about the different pads and the videos are great. Looking forward to reading up more. Just ordered some more pads and now it looks like I will tackle the Excursion next. For that I'll need to do the rub down with M7 first then compound, polish and wax. Here are a few of the truck. Sorry for the bad cell pics.

WOW! Great restoration on an incredibly nice classic Ford Truck!

I'm not even a Ford guy and I'd love to have this 1969 Ford!

Since this is the PC sub-forum, I'm guessing a 7424. ;)

I'm viewing this on the "Home" page so it's hard to tell sometimes where a post came from :xyxthumbs:

Yes. The porter cable 7424XP. Mike, I was never a ford guy until the 68 F100 I had and was talked out of in Daytona at the Rod Run last year. I know I can get more depth out of it but I'm learning with this machine and I will be reading up on the different products as my excursion is dark red and has some "battle" scars I'd like to remove.

I'll post up more of the truck later. Wheels and tires came in yesterday. Woooo Hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the comments. I took it out on a ride to the parts store and ended up talking to a guy who's father had one just like it. One thing led to another and now his father has another one just like he used to have. They couldn't believe how clean it was. I was modest and said I washed it and threw on a coat of wax LOL!!!!!!! I'm working on my next car right now. It is a '89 LX 5.0 coupe mustang. The car is tan but it has been neglected so to say. I'm sticking with the meguire's ultimate line. I got the pads I ordered from here and worked on the hood and roof today. Ran out of product so I'll work on it tomorrow. I'll get pictures of the trunk but I doubt with the color anything will show up. Next is the Excursion. Hey, that might make a good on to use as a class project. What do you think Mike?

Careful! You might catch the bug, but it seems that you might have caught it already. :D
