I've viewed a few threads about guitar refinement, and since the days are getting shorter, I've decided to share my own! (It's tough when you go to work before the sun shines and get home once it's setting.)

This is a work in progress, and hopefully a shared thread for others to share a few of their indoor, detailing related, projects.

This is my Dean Edge 5 Quilt Top

Nuttin fancy, just one of my many grown up toys :awesome:

I was about to break this joker out and serenade my wife into catatonia when I noticed how swirled out the body was!

So I decided I would give the varnish some love, something I thought would be a breeze... Lol, I was wrong. After trying out some M205 with an MF I quickly realized this would take some DA action. I broke out my HF with a 5" OPT MF polishing pad with some GPS and went to work on the back of the body. NOPE. I dropped down to OPT Hyper Compound with another MF polishing pad and got better results, but I'm still not satisfied. I deferred to finish with M205 on a blue pad and finish up my test spot with some NXT 2.0. Here's the correction I was able to get.

Needless to say, this project is going to take a while. I plan on refining my approach and seeing how much I can really get done without a DA in all of the contours. And as we'll as this bass is currently attenuated, I also plan on a complete disassembly and correction.

That's it for tonight Geeks, there will be more to come, I promise. And please, feel free to post any of your detailing bug itch relieving indoor projects to give the rest of us some ideas for the seasons to come! Thanks for reading.
