2000 Camaro SS - Iron X Extreme Makeover (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/85231-2000-camaro-ss-iron-x-extreme-makeover.html)

My co-worker and buddy Jason recently purchased this modern classic, an unmolested 2000 Camaro SS. I felt the paint and it's rougher than the concrete parking lot where the car is parked. It's duller than chalk and it's my guess it hasn't been detailed in over a decade.

We're going to use this Camaro to show how to use Iron X followed by the Foam Gun followed by Nanosking Wash Mitts. The crew from "My Classic Car" will be here filming this class and this car as we show the bleeding effect when Iron X goes to work.

Rock Chip Repair
We'll also be showing how to use the Dr. Color Chip Rock Chip Repair Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/dr-colorchip-paint-chip-repair.html) to fix the paint chips on this Camaro.

The paint code for this Camaro is found on the inside of the driver's door. Where it reads - BC/CC that's Basecoat/Clearcoat and the U 9567 is the paint code.

Nice Camaro. Arctic white which is the same color as my 02 SS.

Looking forward to seeing the results.
One question:
Would Iron X or similar (Dodo Ferrous Dueler) be recommended on a White Vinyl hardtop?
My own thinking is not to use it there, but thought to ask.
Thanks in advance

Anxious to see this! Sounds a lot like my new (to me) 2000 Tacoma.

PS: Thank you for doing your recent reddit AMA, Mike. You rule!

I've used Iron X on a Corvette convertible top, it bled and didn't seem to do any harm. I can look up the thread tomorrow.

We'll be filming the washing process for this car for "My Classic Car".

Hey thanks it was a lot of fun... I was surprised at all the really in-depth questions people asked.

And welcome to AGO!

Looking forward to this, but now feeling really old knowing that a car that came out a year after I graduated high school is on "My Classic Car"!

Agreed. I had to go with D300 and a Meguiar's microfiber cutting pad to use on my 02 SS.

Well first... the class is this weekend...

Second, the portion My Classic Car is going to film is when we use Iron X, the Foam Gun and the Nanoskin Wash Mitts on it.

This will take place first thing on Saturday morning.

Then we move into the garage and my class will be working on the 1956 Dodge Lancer and this will be filmed for My Classic Car.

One goal for showing a "Detailing Class" that the audience of "My Classic Car" would be interested in would be to show them the types of cars they get to work on when they attend a class here at Autogeek and while the Camaro is cool, this car is more to the demographic group that watches "My Classic Car".

1956 Royal Dodge Lancer built by Richard Zocchi (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/85270-1956-royal-dodge-lancer-built-richard-zocchi.html)

Then after this car we'll be buffing out this classic car...

Training Cars for the September Boot Camp Class (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/83181-training-cars-september-boot-camp-class.html)

http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/watermark.php?file=80888

These classes run from 7:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

By Nick and I are pretty tired and there's a LOT of clean-up to do. After the clean up and I've returned all 6-7 cars used for this class back to their owners.... then I'll do my best to process all the pictures. There's usually almost a thousand pictures taken. But I'll do my best to get the pictures up as always.

The segment filmed by "My Classic Car" is for next year's season, that's 2015 and the new shows usually start airing in March.

Nice Ride! Its hard to find Camaro's around that year that have not been modified in some way... Looking forward to see it look like new again!

I used Iron X on my 2013 Summit White camaro when I decontaminated it. Lost of purple spots showed up on it. Car sat on lot for almost a year.
