It's Portuguese so:
Carnauba (/kɑːrˈnɔːbə/ or /kɑːrˈnaʊbə/, carnaúba, Portuguese pronunciation: [kaʁnɐˈubɐ])
That should clear things up
It is a strange word

Copernicia Prunifera is the palms name.I have several on my farm. The fronds have very sharp thorns on the stems. The leaves are silver in color and are both farm raised and grow wild in Brasil.

Learn the right word in portuguese, homeland of Carnaúba.
(someone already tried to give a clue at an earlier post), here's my attempt:
Word to Pronounce: CARNAÚBA
Correct Pronunciation: CAR-NAH-Ú-BAH
or
CAR-NAH-ÚBER
Say car like you always say it (a CAR). NAH, AHHH..., it's an open A, but it's not 'ei', it's AAAAHHH
The UBER at the end you have to put accent on U (Ú) in portuguese (something like 'UHHH', got hit in the stomach!), and not pronounce the R at the end, at all, like a 'german UBAH!'
So that's it, CAR-NA-Ú-BA is also the right syllabic formation of the word.
Great thread!, very funny from start!
