painting plastic trim

Im planning to have my car repainted and also the black bumper trim painted the same color or the car? But, have seen some trim painted peeled off and doesn't look good how can this be avoided?

The plastic has to be prepped properly with a plastic adhesion promoter and a flexible primer, then painted.
