I am thinking of getting a Rupes 21 but am not sure if the pad size will be too large to do all the parts of the car? Can I put the backing plate from the 15 on the 21 to use a smaller pad?

Do you think that will be small enough to get all parts of the car? Or do I need the 75e as well. Sorry if these are dumb questions. I am new to the world of buffers. I have always done everything by hand.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, you can use the smaller Rupes 15 back in plate on the Rupes 21. If you can afford the Mini, go for it. It's a great machine for tight areas.

I am not familiar with the rupes but it seems like you are looking for something that can do everything. A PC7424 is a great starting point and you can get different backing plates for different jobs.

You'll just end up buying the Rupes or Flex later, that's what I ended up doing. The PC is great and felxible but the Rupes o& Flex tools are a major step up.

Why is a rupes better than a US DA?

21 without a doubt! Even with the 5" backing plate, you still won't be able to do the whole car. The 75e is good as long there's no sharp curves on concaves(A-pillars).

Larger throw means it provides better correction ability.

I've been using a PC for years, & a Rupes 21 is in my near future. I borrowed a buddy's Rupes 21 & was absolutely blown away by how much faster I could correct with it. A 21mm throw compared the 6mm on the PC. HUGE difference.
