"Long Time Reader, First time serious "results" post."

The 'Vette belongs to my in-laws and I finally got around to making good on my Mother's Day present. Let's be honest, my wife volunteered me.

The goal was to get a good bit of the embedded dirt, scuffs, and swirls out of the paint. It has been garage kept most of its life but was never treated well at wash time. The paint still had good reflection, it just wasn't clean and crisp reflection.

I did have some trouble with the swirls shots, but if you live in Florida, you understand the retina's burning and the "I'm melting" feeling when you are outside. I have yet to invest in a good handheld light. As I am sure with some of you, this obsession started out as just doing some research for the best way to prep paint for wax on a newly purchased car. I stumbled across this forum and the rest is history, included lots of George Washington's. Who knew this could be so much fun, and work. I regret nothing. :)

The kit:
Dish Soap
PC 7424
LC Purple wool and Optimum MF pads
CG Light Clay Bar
A mix of Meg's UC and D300 (I didn't have enough of either, so naturally I combined them in an unused picnic ketchup bottle)
12% IPA
Wolfgang DGPS 3.0
CG Metal Shine
SmartWax Smart Dressing

Thank for viewing.

What did you use on the glass top. And did you do the paint around the tail lights by hand (what applicator)? I may have a corvette for a detail soon, so doing a little research. Your finished product looks great by the way!

Thanks for all the positive comments.

For the glass top I used the UC/D300 combo on the purple wool LC pads and topped it with the Wolfgang DGPS 3.0. It was a moment of curiosity and I think it turned out well. Not sure how long it will last on the glass though.

For the ledge in front of the tails, I used a 3" LC wool on the PC and went slow and gentle. I then took the wool pad off and did the sides and top by hand.

I like to see those cars with almost 20 years looking that good, great work mate.

I'd be volunteer on this one, easily!

Best Wishes.
