I started machine polishing my blue 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600 with an orange 4" pad and a PC7424XP on a speed of 4. I began on the tail portion of the bike. After doing my first section pass on a 12x12 section I noticed right away that my lake country orange pad had a dark color to it. I immediately stopped for the night and cleaned up. My question is did I go through the clear already with an orange pad and one section pass? Or is this a tinted clear or no clear at all? The paint still looks great and looks even better than before with removing all the minor scratches it had. Picture of pad is attached.

It could be single stage paint and what color is the bike?

Right above the sticker that says "Suzuki" is where I was machine polishing

Did you clay it first cause it could still have contaminants?

Maybe you can find an inconspicuous area on the bike and repeat the process.

Clean it up
Clay

but next grab a towel and the same polish you used and buff out a small section by hand and see if you are getting paint transfer?

What polish did you use? I wonder if the polish itself stained the pad? I know there are some polishes that do this actually.

Adams swirl and haze remover.

Ok like said at first could just be single stage paint and have you tried to polish anywhere else?

I polished the blue gas tank and the pad stayed orange. So the gas tank definitely has a clear coat, but I'm thinking maybe the tail section doesn't since it's made out of a hard plastic. I will test out another area with a rag/polish and see if color is transferred.

Used the advice from you guys and grabbed a rag/polish and checked a hidden area and paint did transfer into the rag. Apparently my gas tank is clear coated and all the other hard plastic pieces that are painted do not have clear coat. Thank you gents. Almost done with the detail and will post results when I'm done.
