which pad should I use for applying wax and buffing wax?

blue foam pad

white foam pad

red foam pad

and lake country microfiber pads

For a true wax that is designed only to protect...Red Foam.....but in the attached video, Mike Phillips uses blue, black & red on the same vehicle

Check out the Lake Country Product page in the AGO store. There are descriptions and suggested uses for all of their pads.


IMO, wax should always be buffed of by hand using a soft, clean microfiber towel.

In the interest of complicating things even further. I have seen good results using the Meguiar's D301 with their Polishing DAMF.

I use the Red Pad and the Gold Pad. I will use the Black Pad for extreme light polishing or cleaning prior to putting on an LSP. Some people will think I am nuts with the Gold Pad but I like it too.

Red and Gold. I know the Black will do the same but that is just me

The Red, Gold have no cutting ability. The Black has very minimal cutting ability.
