I've recently begun experimenting with a wool pad.

I had a 08 Audi Avant S-line 2.0 that was blue with typical swirling with a solid amount of RIDS buried behind the swirls.

I used Chemical Guys V34 Hybrid and 1400rpms with only the pressure of the machine. I had to do 2 complete applications in the area I was working on to remove the swirls yet still leave some behind.

I feel like my orange pad with V34 worked just as well, if not faster than the wool - but I tend to use some light applied pressure.

I noticed the wool pad generates far less heat, I felt like I could have been more aggressive going with 1800 rpms and some light applied pressure, but I didn't. I wasn't pleased with my results at all.

To finish the car down to an acceptable gloss I used the white pad with some optimum polish II and then used CG Butter Wax. Shine was great, but I was pretty disappointed when I really inspected the car and could see what I left behind.

I'd appreciate any tips with the wool pad.

1500 is all you need with wool. Try applying more pressure.
