I am still a noob at detailing but I keep learning a lot everyday. When I get my truck painted I can start detailing her properly as soon as possible. But when cleaning my girlfriends car I notice her paint was weird in two spots. To me it looks like the clear coat is peeling but I am not sure. Below you will see pictures, any help on how to fix I appreciate!

Second and third pic does look, to me, like the clear is giving up the ghost in that spot but with my inexperience i'll let those with more throw in some thoughts. Good luck.

That first pic looks like a rock chip that someone touched up, the second is some glue from the door edge guard that used to be on there.

If it's possibly glue what should I use to remove? This way I can try that out and see if it goes away. Both those pictures I took of the spots I can pick it off were you see it's faded.

Looks like clear failure to me. Take a little compound, put it on a white microfiber...or light color. Rub that area by hand and see if you bring up any color. If you get color the cc if peeling.

As dave said above me do that to check if its clear coat failure which looks like it is. If it is clear coat failure take a plastic razor blade and chip all the clear off that is already lifting. Tape off that section that has clear failing and shoot it with a couple coats of clear. Remove the tape wet sand and buff. Unfortunately thats the only thing id recommend next to taking it to a body shop to get fixed.

Can I do te clear coat test by hand or use a machine?

If that's what it is (which I really think it is) how far out should I tape to clear coat it myself? If it ends up looking horrible I'll end up going to body shop but I'd like to try it first.
