ok so i had to post it somewhere where people could relate to my little car problem...

so my buddy decides he wants to go to this one place for dinner and i ask this girl ive been seeing if she wants to come so she says yes. her and my friend both show up at my house at the same time and park across the street, and i for some reason thought one of the cars was in the driveway...we all pile into my bmw and i back out, put the car in first and still rolling backwards i start to feather the clutch until it catches but....there always has to be a "but" doesnt there?... before it starts to catch i hear thump, and my car stops itself. i look out my side window and see my girls silver eclipse. i just backed into her car! so i pull forward, get out and look...my bumper is merely scraped, no big deal, i can repaint it... her entire quarter panel on the other hand is caved in! i felt like such a dumbass....she didnt seem to care, it was no bi gdeal to her but i couldnt apologize enough...so thats my little vent/ story for you to laugh at. yes i am a dumbass for this and i openly admit it! it is the first time ive caused damage tomy own vehicle

That sounds like something my wife would do. Sorry about your accident Kelso. If I was her I would have been real upset.

I am not laughing. I feel your pain!
I got one to tell on myself as well. It was a few years ago. I was pulling my husbands truck into the garage because a hail storm was comming. Now.... our 2 car garage has so much stuff in it we usually only get one car in. Anyway.... I am going in really slow trying to be very careful. Then I realize I have hit something. I climb out and see I have hit the ..... mmmm... trim piece thing, that cover the wheel well. Whatever that is called. Anyway, I felt soooooo bad! The worst part was I had to go in tell my husband what I had done. Then ask for his advice on how to minimize the damage. Do I continue forward or back out. He was great about it. He laughed his ass off. Not only do you scratch my truck, you wake me up from a nap, then make me watch you do the rest of the damage. It all worked out. I took it to local body shop, he popped of the piece. A few days later he popped it back on. Some day you guys will laugh about it. We all have silly mistakes we have made. Don't beat yourself up too much.
Oh yeah I should add it never even rained that night!

Is it a big dent Kelso? I just had to call a "paintless dent repair" guy. He made it sound like the bigger ones with no creases might be easier to fix. There is also the hair dryer/canned air trick that sometimes will pop out the bigger ones.

yea its massive and its between the door and the rear fender arch ....probably a foot tall and just as wide...it looks like it might be able to be popped out and the door and fender didnt get touched at all so im optomistic about it... but i still hit her freakin car and we were together and shes already planning out how shes going to tell EVERYBODY about it and how her dad is never going to quit making fun of me for this lol.... im just going to blame her and say i was really really drunk and she let me drive anyways!...which is a total lie cause i dont really drink often and id never get behind the wheel but oh well....id rather have them think i was a drunk idiot rather than just an idiot( in this case)

I hope you are kidding about that. Her daddy will kick your ass if you let him think for a second you were drinking and driving with his baby in the car! :D

dont feel bad... ive been driving for 7 years, and the only thing ive ever hit is my own househttp://www.ls1gto.com/forums/images/smilies/slap.gif

Like three different times in my old POS escort (the reason why new drivers should have cheap cars)

Once in my gto, luckily there is was ZERO damage... really lucked out there

And big one, smashed my soon to be brother-in-law's grand prix into the side of the house, it needed a new door skin... that really sucked. - Side note on this one, I was 18yrs old and it was my first and only experience with drunk driving, only moving some cars in and out of my driveway at that, it was really stupid and im glad it happened cuz it was enough to make me realize that the booze and cars should never ever go togethor.

Yea my driveway is really tight and it wraps around the house into the backyard where my garage is... (there I go making excuses lol)

bottom line, it happens to everyone, put it behind you and be happy your girl was cool abouyt it.

I've backed into a vehicle once, no damage since it was a truck with a nice metal bumper. On the otherhand, the tail light cracked on my car. I'm not laughing at what you did, I feel your pain! I sometimes don't look while backing up, or well, I look in the rear view mirror, which isn't a good thing. I always look back now :p.

I can tell you a good house hitting story. My south Fla friends will appreciate this. One of my good friends has a house on the corner of Flagler and 45th in Palm Beach, she is out and gets a call. Someone ran off the road and into your house. Get there and there is an Explorer in her bedroom and the whole corner of her house is demolished. This is after she has preatty much renovated the whole house... one more room to do!:o
Kicker is they speak no English and have no insurance and if I remember I do not think they had a license. Guess who had to pay...

Man that would stink!!!! As if home owners insurance is not enough in FL already! Well... I guess the HIO would take care of it. Although if you read the fine print they may have a disclaimer that says it's not covered. :D

Well she did end up paying for it with her homeowners I think, I am sure her deductible wasnt small either. Stinks, you run to the store for groceries come home to a 25,000 house repair!
