Stripping factory paint from aluminum wheels

I just stripped the chipped, oxidized, clear coat from the aluminum wheels on my '02 F-150 using "Klean Strip" spray. After two passes all the nasty clear coat was history, but some of the factory silver metallic paint remains on the cut outs and back of the wheels.

What's the best way to remove what's left of the paint without having to take the tires off the wheels? Should I have another go with Klean Strip or is there something else which might work?

Did a quick forum search and didn't find anything, so let me know where this may have been covered before.

I would pull the tire/wheel assembly:
No need to chance getting any more of the
"stripper" on the braking-components, etc.

BTW:
What's your future plans on the "finish" for these wheels?

Note:
Aircraft Paint Strippers do an excellent job of stripping-down automotive wheels.
D-Zolve 15-33LO-R...is one such "stripper".
Rustoleum has one also.

IME Kleen Strip may require multiple applications. Using a pressure washer to blast the paint off in between seems to help.

Thanks for the info. Once the wheels are stripped, will wet sand and polish. I've already done the outside face and it came out great. What's a good choice for protecting the aluminum?
