Why is it bad to have too much alcohol in your IPA wipedown after polishing?

It's not bad per say. IPA tends to be grabby and will marr/scratch soft paint when wiping off. Eraser helps with lubrication, but glass wow is the best I've used.

Isopropyl Alcohol in higher concentrations can damage paint & trim

Opinions on what strength is appropriate vary.

From the above article: "(The Chemists) recommendation was for approximately a 10% dilution of IPA to water solution. The reason for this recommendation besides their chemistry background, is that a strong solution of IPA can stain and even soften some clear coat paints."
