Returning the loaner car to the dealer in better condition than you received it.

Seriously. I need to put down the microfiber and take two steps back.

Hey, sometimes you just want to see what you can do on a car that you don't normally work on.

Exactly. It's like a challenge!

Rental cars = good rotary practice. Just don't use the rental vans I take care of. ;-)

Guilty of that too. I think getting the swirls out are a sport.

Too funny. I did a rinseless wash (onrww) on parts of this loaner ram 1500 the other night to practice a little. I only did half the hood to see how it'd bead (was thundering, so I figured it may rain) - anyway, as I was doing it I wondered how many other ago forum members use rentals/loaners as practice.

Never thought of using a rental to "practice". Awesome idea though!

Funny how the perspective here is different than previous "detailing" forums i have visited in the past. I had my old BMW in for a multi day service a few years ago and had a loaner BMW. I used the opportunity to try some things out and caught holy living h*** from some on that forum. Comments like "how could you jeopardize someone else's property" and "did you have permission from the dealer to do something like that?". I made that loaner, like you, better than when they released it to me and returned it in much better condition.

I still am shocked at the response i received from other detailing enthusiasts and didn't "jeopardize" anything. It's refreshing to hear a similar persepctive to mine here.

When my q5 was in for a respray after a Nissan micra tried to do a 3 point turn in a car park space we got a vw tigan in a navy metalic colour.

This had scratches on every panel so as I got a parcel through for autogeek I experimented on it and handed it back spotless. My wife and neighbours thought I was mad but the garage gave me a Porsche panamara to detail and paid me £600 for 2 days enjoyment.

Its a great road car but I can't afford one but I sure enjoyed driving it chime and back to them!

Thank you Meghan, nick and mike for all the great stuff I bought from autogeek so I can detail awesome cars

When you rent a car from Enterprise, they tell you what they're looking for damage-wise. Dents bigger than a golf ball and scratches 5" or longer. Sooooo I doubt my ONRWW+ is gonna qualify - even if my microfiber cloth came from Costco Im the MAN:laughing:

Got this little charmer last summer when I had my Model S serviced. Of course I washed it and took some swirls out with SF4000.
