First off sorry if this was the wrong place to post this, I had no idea where else. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas for a cheap camera to take before and after photos of the cars I detail. I'm looking for something to capture the fine swirls and scratches so I can show what a good job the flex does at removing them. I'm not a photographer so I dont want to spend alot of money on a camera. Since the cost of some of these cameras is the same as a new polisher which I have been looking at lol. Any ideas as to what type of camera I should look for?

If you want something cheap and easy to use, just use a smartphone (making the general assumption that you have one as most people do these days).

However, the saying "you get what you pay for" is true with cameras as well, but if you don't want to invest the time and money to learn to use a high end camera properly, I can understand that.

Go to a local camera store and have them show you some point and shoot models that fit your budget... none of them will be great, but they will all take pictures :)

IMHO pay a professional photographer to shoot a few cars you do before and after for you. Perhaps offer to detail their car in exchange for the time and effort. Also if you find a photographer who shoots cars often you may get some work out of it b/c no photographer wants a car with dirty/swirled/shoddy looking paint in their portfolio.

Professional photos will best showcase professional results.
