Hydro foam gun

Recently got a MTM Hydro foam gun for my 3500 psi pressure washer. Works good but seems to put a strain on the pressure washer sometimes. Pressure washer runs smooth with any other type of nozzle. With this foam gun the spray coming out and the engine pulsates. Few times it even acted like the engine would cut off.
Is this normal?
