Was wondering if anyone had any tricks for cleaning a product like tire foam applicators, tire swipe (http://www.autogeek.net/tire-applicator.html)

I wanted to buy some since ive been reading they are a good way to apply a tire shine product. I'm not sold on this specific product yet, anyone got any other products good for applying tire shine?

Dish soap and water works fine to clean them.

I do not have the tire applicator that are mentioned in your thread. I have some $1.99 applicators. I cut them in 1/2 and they actually fit better on the tire then if it was the whole piece. After about 6 to 10 uses I just throw them away and buy a new applicator. Again, mine cost $1.99

I get them at any auto-parts store. Again, they are like $1.99 no more than $3.00.

I know they are cheap as I buy 2 at a time cut them in 1/2. I can't remember how much I paid but I know it was cheap. Cleaning them would be a very dirty job.

Most"Dollar" stores sell multi\packs of small sponges (2" x 3") that have the green scrubby on the back.

I cut those in half and dispose of after each use.

What i use as a tire dressing applicator is a MF wax applicator a 3 pack at a local auto parts store is like 4 bucks. To clean them i soak them in dish soap and hot water for about an hour and then ring them out and soak them in hot water and APC then rinse with cold water. They last about 5-10 details.

APC full strength if it's something I want to save. Or use a dedicated applicator for each tire product and keep them in a baggie.

It's one of the few things I use full strength APC for.

Let it soak in dish soap and water or apc for few minutes then under running water massage the leftover dressing out(just dont do it in a light colored sink) though I would just place in a bag or a dedicated tubber-ware bowl that way next time you wont have to apply more dressing and if you do not as much

Nothing gets them clean as new for me - except mineral spirits.

However, I've switched to applicators shipped form China via eBay. They are like $6 a dozen to your front door. I use them once and they are in the garbage.
