Just got a new half tower for a project boat. I would like to keep it looking new for as long as possible. Has anyone tried Opti Coat for brushed anodized aluminum? Any reason it wouldn't work? I've had it on my truck for over 3 years now, and seems to be doing well there....

Thanks!

no problem there. the good thing is that surface won't be that sensitive to high spots.

just make sure it's squeaky bare clean prior to installation, obviously.

let us know how it works out!

Thanks guys. It is brand new - no wax or any other coating on it yet. I plan to give it an acetone wipe down before opti-coating it.

personally, i'd stick with more a commonly accepted prep solvent like Maxx Solv or Prep-All or possibly a strong IPA solution at the very least.

acetone, at least the stuff most people have access to, might not be residue/film free after evaporating. i feel like a brushed surface with grains and grooves might be particularly sensitive to collecting residue/film. i could be wrong.

Thanks Builthatch, good suggestion. I think I've got some Prep-All left over, or some IPA for sure.
