Customer drops a bike off at the studio. After a few days of messing with it, he was fed up. Contemplating sending the bike to auction, he came to us as a last resort.

Bike looked as if it had literally been DIPPED in plasti dip. The body panels weren't removed for plasti dip. Everything was sloppily done without removing anything from the bike. Everything from the handlebars to the exhaust tip was covered. Every nook and cranny. We HATE plasti dip, it all had to go.

After pulling all of the large pieces of dip off, this was what was left....

Plasit dip was removed. The bike was then washed with Iron X soap to get rid of the oily residue left by the plasti dip and the products used to remove it. The windscreen and the painted surface were polished. The chain and chain guard were cleaned, and the chain re lubed. (we are bike enthusiasts at the shop and all ride) I suggested a chain replacement as it was beginning to rust and corrode.

The bike came in looking like a beat up lost cause, it left the studio revitalized and respectable.

Very nice job indeed.

Every time I see the cars in the background, I am jealous of you guys more and more, but 3 Vipers...CMON! Now I don't want one any more, I NEED one!

Very Viper Orange (Only 40 in existence) 2014 is en route to the shop as I type. I swear it wasn't planned, they just all slithered into the studio at he same time.

For a newer bike that thing was in bad shape. Thankfully y'all turned it back into the beauty it is. Great job.

Beautiful job. Just a shame that we have to see another example where someone gave plastidip a bad name by failing to properly prep and spray.

I've seen it done neat and tidy. Has it's purpose. Two of my guys are from the New England area. We don't get much snow (none) here in Houston but I guess its a huge protective measure up in the NE. Down here in houston we see it every day, sloppy, peeling, put on too thin, and used as a cheap half assed way to not have to properly care for paintwork.

The shops here charge $1800 for a full car and sell it as a "cheaper alternative to paint correction" giving us a massively bad name.

WD-40 OWNS plasti dip. Also used some adhesive remover. On the wheels and sprocket an swing arm, just a gentle brush and super clean degreaser.

Spray WD-40 on the plasti dip, agitate, let sit but not dry, power wash. Repeat until you erode it all away. Much of the plasti bodywork was removed so the underneath overspray could be gotten to.

The wind screen was polished using Meg105 and micorfiber cutting pad.

Painted surfaces polished with a white pad and Wolfgang TSR.

Chain oiled with no sling chain lube, chain tension reset. Tires deflated (seems they were filled in winter and the texas heat had them WAY over pressurized.

Bike kept on trickle charger while in shop.


How many hours did you have into that job? 8 hrs


For a newer bike that thing was in bad shape. Thankfully y'all turned it back into the beauty it is. Great job.

Great job, bike is looking showroom fresh. nice to see bike on Autogeek Forum after long time. i am a bike crazy too.
